So, reading Serebii, the main complaints about this episode seem to be:
>Ash didn't use pokémon with type advantages (Gengar)
>Ash didn't recall Lucario despite it taking a lot of damage
>The battle is too rushed
A lot of people complained about Ash not using Gengar...are they completely unable to understand that teams are decided based on what's more exciting rather than what makes more sense based on type advantages?
>Grapploct: Bea's ace in her first 2 battles. Ash never managed to defeat it (best he could do was tie) so if it's defeated here that'll show Ash got stronger. Literally a jobber, since his only role here is to lose to make his opponent seem strong.
>Hawlucha: she's used it before and Ash could never defeat it.
>Machamp: Bea's ace in the games, it's here to showcase Gigantamax
>Sirfetch'd: Lost to Hawlucha once, this time it gets to defeat it to show how strong it's become
>Pikachu: lost to Grapploct. This time it'll win to show that Ash's party as a whole is stronger.
>Lucario: Ash's ace in the previous 2 battles against Bea. They wouldn't really settle the score if Lucario wasn't used. Also gotta showcase mega evolution
Gengar would feel pointless...
