Not saying Digimon is complete garbage, but it pales heavily in comparison to Pokemon. The kids just stand around and don't give commands to the Digimon so the excitement of human skill when it comes to having powerful monsters fight for you is downplayed. Typings, weaknesses and moves; the way Digimon "battles" work is never explained in the anime and random bullshit is just made up for the games, which have no consistency in gameplay and you can't transfer Digimon between games obviously. You can never tell if a Digimon that appears in the anime is a Digimon you can actually obtain in the games or some random character they made up for the show.
