>>47205658It's marketing speak. The term "remaster" is rooted in music production and has always referred to making a new release from an already existing copy. There are so many brand new assets in the Crash remake that it's literally remade the game. Doesn't matter if they used level geometry as a skeleton. It literally doesn't matter.
Much like in music and film, a game remaster takes the existing game, code, assets, everything, and polishes it. Usually in the form of high rendering resolution and higher res textures.
As much as we don't like it, BDSP is a remake. It's not even 1:1 given we've seen one or two Platinum elements from it, so that argument goes out the window. Furthermore the Fairy typing and many other balance and QoL changes from after gen IV will likely be present as well.
Now stop conflating the two, this debate literally only happened because publishers want carte blanche to make straight up reboots and slap a "remake" tag on them so they can blame the customer when they don't get what they're expecting from a fucking remake.
