Jesus anon you ATTACK enemy gyms with your A team, you (now) get -1000xp per mon killed, regardless if you took out a 1500 snorlax with a 2.8k machamp or not. Additionally, you get an extra -1k xp bonus for beating the whole gym.
They double it from -500xp to -1000xp a while ago, which makes it too easy.
Funny someone i know thought the same thing when i was with her and she was attacking a gym i was training using the same cp pokemon as me.
