>>40198932I think what it generally comes down to is that Gen V's design elements are easier to understand - for better or worse. They pop out more and (on average) are less subtle. As an example, comparing the Common Normals; I'd argue that Zigzagoon and Linoone's whole autistic running shtick makes them a lot goofier than Patrat and Watchog but the latter have their meme eyes which is much more immediately apparent and less likely for somebody to miss.
And of course muh gaijin Turner started in Gen V with ice cream so all of Gen V is muh gaijin Turner abominations
