Praise where praise is due, Idk much about story flow/pacing but I feel you done it right. The details make the characters easy to imagine and come to life, The world, it's spin and what's left to imagine about it in the story feels good too, I'm really enjoying. Your work has also taught me a few new words that were new to me, They were easy to grasp by their context.
Aside from being a braids aficionado I also happen to love and study plants including foxgloves. Pic related for any1 wondering. The pink ones even happen to grow where I live. They're quite toxic but are also used to treat arrhythmia and heart failure.
