Back when I was writing a Pokemon Tabletop United campaign (and before regionals were a thing) I had planned to use the type-shifting mechanic to make some unique ace pokemon for my elite 4, who were going to be dual-type specialists and have their aces represent both types, but now I realise they could make for some interesting regionals.
>Rock/Flying Tropius, its wings are now rock solid and fossilised, making it a lot less manueverable, but it's a lot bulkier as result.
>Fire/Steel Steelix, just a Steelix that's burning hot to the point of glowing and being slightly malleable like molten steel about to be forged. Weaker defence than normal steelix but better attack
>Water/Ghost Golurk, similar to a regular Golurk in appearence but with different patterns, and with a seemingly endless supply of water pouring from its eyes, under its wrists and kilt, out of the crack on it's chest and smaller chipped parts of its body. Vaguely based on the dnd concept of a decanter of infinte water, as opposed to regular golurk being a dynamo of infinte energy.
