I much prefer newer designs as a whole, but I would also prefer it if they were given more detail/definition and better proportions like old designs were. As an example I love all the pinniped mons with the Popplio line as my favourites but things like Primarina's flippers just having lines with no definition, the completely flat transition from its head to hair, the lack of any texture to its parts which makes some of the design details needlessly ambiguous and its tiny neck bother me.
