I don't know what OP really means by repetition, given Groudon and Kyogre are the ones that locked us into the "hard counterparts" trend. Rehiram and Zekrom were uniquely "been there, done that" due to being a second duo of dragons in a row, but they're all patterns, and one might argue Groudon and Kyogre actually did it best the first time.
Having said that I didn't mind the Sinnoh quartet looking a little 3d (or sharing red eyes) due to being these abstract concept Pokemon that should feasibly look different, but even then they do look like toys that weren't build to move. And sure enough the anime mostly has them just float about.
