It's just like "My mom's X" and "It just gets bigger". None of which are inherently bad.
Gen 5 had a lot of great designs. And shitty designs. Just like every generation, including Gen 1. Don't try and pretend Mr. Mime was ever a fan favorite. And all the Pokémon that were somehow several individuals were always a terrible concept.
