This thread is so quiet. I guess I’ll plant some greenery!
I’d like to propose an angle of discussion regarding the possibility of Eeveelutions in further generations. Today, while mindlessly shitposting, I realized that I didn’t know if Flareon was meant to be red or orange. As it turns out, a lot of official art is unsure, too, with Flareon’s coat varying from a dark orange to a deep red. Maybe I’m just not attentive, but I also discovered that orange doesn’t exist as a color category in the games. As far as the dex is concerned, Flareon is red.
After diving further into the color categories, it seems the only colors not represented by an Eeveelution (as the predominant color, at least) are white and grey. Sylveon has a lot of white, obviously, but in-game and due to the connotations of its typing, it’s understandably considered pink.
Long story short, if the designers intend to use Eeveelutions to fill out the rainbow, the last designs could be grey and white. Could that make future Eevees steel and flying? Or rock and flying? Of course, dragon is the last type with exclusively special moves (pre-Gen IV, at least), so how does that factor into the rainbow? Or, given that Vaporeon and Glaceon are both blue, do you think the designers are less inclined to care about the color palette?
So many questions, and no way to definitively answer them, but I thought it might be interesting to discuss.
