You want to talk about jokes? First of all, look at Delibird's stats. This was and still is a fully evolved Pokemon, one you get just before the 8th gym. When Gen 3 rolled around they gave it Hustle, which is good on other Pokemon but mostly just serves to make Delibird's 55 base Attack just under the point of not being hilarious in exchange for missing every attack that matters. They also gave it Vital Spirit, which is a flavorful but not very useful defensive option. Neither one really helped Delibird's case much. And the last laugh comes in Gen 5, with the introduction of Hidden Abilities. Almost every Pokemon gets SOME kind of new tool to play around with, resulting in drastic changes in viability for some (Politoed/Ninetales, for instance). Delibird gets a HA! And what does it get? Insomnia. Functionally identical to Vital Spirit. It gets a clone of its worst ability 10 years later. Why, GF?
