But I would like to add that its biggest problem was not only being generic, but it is obvious that the people in charge had planned to make this story without pokemon, these were only added at the last moment, this is why this world feels so empty and disconnected from the original franchise, perhaps as a generic shonen manga it would have been one of the many, but by using Pokemon a certain degree of love towards the franchise was expected.
In short it's the manga version of Dragon Ball LA movie when you leave the product to a director and writer who don't give a shit about the source material.
