Since Tangela's evo is pretty quirky yet bears a striking resemblance to Seiga from Touhou, I decided to look into Seiga's inspirations to see if it was the same as the scrapped design. Turns out they likely do, but I can't exactly go into detail as the thing they're inspired from is part of a Chinese product that isn't actually on the internet anywhere. Seiga's name 青娥 when pronounced in Mandarin Chinese is "Qing'e" which directly translates to "Blue/Green/Youth Beauty" - something noticeable about the Tangela in Gold and Silver is that it has a blue-green sort of colour. We also know it as being Blue and its shiny is Green. Qing'e is also the name for a tale in the aforementioned Chinese product, the 14th chapter from Volume 7 in of a Chinese ghost story collection "Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio". The heroine in this story ends up becoming a hermit and the sort of huddled down look of Tangela's evo is sort of reminiscent of a Chinese Hermit, along with having a Chinese style hair loop made from its vines. Seiga's also a hermit obviously, being based off of this tale.
So basically, Tangela's evolution is a blue/green/youth hermit beauty. Its name should reflect this. And if anyone knows anything more about the Qing'e story to correct me or elaborate further, please do.
