If the anime/game/whatever is now a real setting so to speak it would need to change a lot of things for it to be believable like dynamics between characters and their personality otherwise instead of being reborn it would be like being in a simulation. For example, in a real world Ash, while stupid, wouldn't be at Journeys levels nor nerfed as much as he is thanks to plot, it would also need to address on his mentality if all the bullshit he has been through happens to a literal kid that just wants to be a Pokémon Master like the times he died, Entei kidnapping his mom, Latio's and Lucario's deaths and such, meaning that the character you meet will be different to the one you remember from the show because he is real now and not the writers's way to keep the show going.
It would also change his teams since they would go beyond "they're cute and sell so lets shill them"
