>How do I know the cards are genuine?Long story short: you don't. I'm not sure where you're located but if you can order from
pokemoncenter.com, that's straight from the source so they're 100% guarenteed authentic. The caviat to that is that they usually have the highest prices. Places like ebay and amazon are hit and miss. There are some fakes and some authentic cards. My rule of thumbs are these;
1. Never buy from china ever
2. If a deal is too good to be true, it usually is (eg. a booster box for $60)
Also with those sites there is always buyer protection in case you do get sent fakes. Just read the listing carefully. Anything like "replica, unauthorized, china version, asia version", they're fake. My go to is local shops. These can be actual physical brick and mortar stores or online stores. But just basically any local card store. Literally just google "pokemon card shop" and there should be a plethora of results. They are 95% guarenteed to be authentic. Established stores wouldn't risk the reputation they've built up selling fakes. The 5% comes from completely new online stores opened within the last 6 months. And they won't even sell you fakes, they'll just take your money and disappear.
In any case, do loads of research on whatever store you plan to buy from and if it checks out, you should be fine. Good luck
