Unova being a "giant circle" with less exploration than previous games was once a criticism that Gen 5 received all the time. Team Plasma's narrative was also divisive, because of the whole Pokemon ethics debate. On the other hand, there are other people who wanted Pokemon games to tell better stories with more developed characters. These people typically loved Gen 5 for what it was doing differently.
