Gen 6 crushed me and convinced me I would never like Pokémon again, so I went into SM with a bad attitude expecting more of the same, but instead it gave me a story and characters I could actually care about, in a lively region full of memorable places, populated by Pokémon I loved like Mareanie and Dhelmise. Plus it added regional forms, something I'd always wanted to see.
Gen 7 literally saved the series for me, it's the first game I've gone back and replayed since Platinum.
