How did the show get this bad? Do the Japanese just not care about their writing? I get that it’s a big commercial, I understand that. But everything past the Orange Islands is just so bad. Johto was boring overall. Hoenn was less boring but not great. DP came closest to being interesting. They fumbled Gen 5 so hard, Kalos sucked. Journey’s referenced a bunch of stuff but did nothing interesting.
Kanto and Orange Islands were scattershot, but the character interactions had some edge, things actually happened, it seemed like some actions had consequences.
