>>53573257 kind of said, it's very strange that the professor is just like "my new assistant" when it's allegedly THEIR invention that THEY built. That makes very little sense. They either were totally deranged, or the journal entries are some sort of red herring, and the assistant is actually an actual person and the AI is a separate thing. That still begs the question how the AI robot was made, though.

It doesn't look like crystals eaten into the machine, like it did with the last research station. Seems deliberately constructed the way it is.
