>>58297771>What did they do right?Virtually everything compared to SwSh. The writing was surprisingly good all through the base game and the DLC. OST was tasteful, and I like the open world direction the series is going in. Characters were surprisingly memorable, but I wish we got more time to spend with each one.
>What did they do wrong?A lot, including decorative buildings. Besides the shitty unpolished beta look in Paldea that was only "fixed" by the DLC areas looking ten times better, my biggest problem is trainer battles being made completely optional because of the open world aspect. In that same vein, the nonexistence of routes can be handwaved on account of the open world, but I'm sure there could've been a way to integrate them into an open-world environment without being forced or restricting the players' full freedom of exploration. It could have been as simple as renaming an area to "Route (whatever)" instead of this dystopian "North/East/West/South area" crap
>Favorite mon introduced?Tie between Archaludon, Kingambit and Iron Thorns
>What characters did you like most if any?Penny. She's cute. Carmine and Kieran were very refreshing as rivals, I like how their entire personalities are inverted as you progress through the DLC. Arven's arc was really nice, too.
>Did you like Tera as a gimmick? As a hardcomp player, yes. It's interesting as a mechanic and has a lot of wacky niche strategies to exploit. From a casual perspective sadly, it just feels like a forced marketing thing. Tera Raids are also extremely unfun and buggy, solo raids are entirely RNG
>Did you enjoy the DLC? Very much but the QOL fixes should have been part of the game on launch
>How well do they stack up for you compared to other generations? They're alright. Not the best, but they don't need to be. They're their own thing, and they're there to test the waters. I only hope Gamefreak spaces out their release schedule so the next games are released in a presentable state
