If you'd told me a week ago that Game Freak would show a willingness to both outsource a mainline RPG and develop a completely different style of mainline RPG, all in the same 20 minute presentation, I would have laughed in your face. They've shown that they can grow, and that's an important first step. I feel a lot better about the future of the franchise. The quality of individual games can be fine-tuned, a developer with no vision is a lot harder to fix.
