I play pokemmo so I can have all the 'vees except Sylveon in Kanto. Espeon, Jolteon and Leafeon are powerful enough; Umbreon can be nice but not my style. Vaporeon's my water bike.
If you're playing a more traditional game, start with Jolteon, this one's awesome even if you are really new. Vaporeon can be good enough too.
Flareon got a pretty shallow moveset and also low speed. You *can* make him work — but it's usually not worth the effort unless you're doing it because you really like this boi and/or want to make people feel really embarrassed for dying to him.
