I like history and biographies so I name a lot of my frens after notable people who fit the theme, e.g. usually nickname my Porygons "Newell" after Martin Newell, the guy who made the Utah Teapot 3D model and did a lot of cutting edge research into 3D modeling/computer graphics back in the day. It's fun to read up on the history of a topic to find a fitting name.
