Getting two Mega forms as opposed to the rest of the Kanto starters is a bit much but at least acknowledges its popularity and it's one of two monsters that got similar treatment. It might be a little conspicuous, but I think the real issue starts in Gen 7 if anything, where Charizard is shilled at the cost of its prestige as a ride monster. Then in the next Generation its the Champion's ace even if that makes no sense.
