>>29470967Here's the thing though. I totally get people reaching for "Blue and Red are a couple" because that actually ads some characterization. In order to make him interesting, people have to MAKE UP backstories and motivations for Blue about him losing his Raticate and wanting to impress the grandpa who constantly gives his Blue shit can't even remember his own grandson's name but loves Red. Meanwhile, Red is cardboard cut out, which works for a silent protag, but he's not a silent protag anymore. These long time rivals being a couple actually adds something INTERESTING to them, especially in regards to their dynamic as rivals which is basically all they have as characters and adding to it.
Also, people shipped them forever because people always have shipped and always will. It goes back hundreds/thousands of years ago with matchmakers. So it's best to just get used to it.
