The problem with this board is mostly an inherent flaw of dedicating an entire board to a game series which updates annually, with little to discuss after the first few months of a new release and the days leading up to news and a new game. With the only regular updates related to the franchise being the TCG the only other topics to discuss are age old genwars, starterwars, calling each other's favourites shit, shitflinging in general out of boredom or spite, Smogon's imaginary meta and battle sims and I'm sorry to say it, but the average age of this board's population makes it less likely to have a proper discussion without memewanking children shitting it up.
The weeks after the release of a new game are usually the best, when everyone is still playing the game and trading/battling is at its peak. Discussions surrounding lore topics and the battle efficiency of new Pokemon are fresh, even if good new designs perform poorly in the meta at least there is some praise for them during the main game.
Everything after that sweet period goes back to calling the latest games a disappointment, because what went wrong? Every new design is utter shit and whatever new mechanics are introduced are a mistake and ruined the series.
