There is nothing wrong with using part of a design if it's subtle but this is literally comprised of nothing but gamefreak's IP there isn't a shred of originality they just spliced together existing pokemon to make new ones which is why there is a backlash.
No one would give a shit if the evidence wasn't so damning, best they can do is change the designs and admit they didn't understand how IP works otherwise it would be stupid not to make an example of these fools.
