>>56738012yes because even when you ignore them in the back of your head you're aware that the team you're currently using aswell as anything you will or ever could catch in the monster catching game are a bunch of objectively inferior genetic dead ends who could never handle anything beyond the braindead AI trainers built for children to defeat. Any attachment you might develop is transitory as they won't no matter how hard you try be able to grow beyond that, and at their absolute peak they'll serve as breeding sows to eventually sire a usable one after many generations through a rigorous eugenics program.
One time I traded a team of max IV breed and fully EV trained pokes around level 10ish to a fresh game to avoid this and it was awesome. Felt like the adventure were actually worth something since the pokemon that I raised and put in the hall of fame could go right into battle against actual people afterwards. I could actually get attached to the little guys just like the old days.
and don't give me that bottlecap tripe. Those didn't exist yet and all the games that have them now are unfun dogshit.
