>>56224721for levitate i imagine latent/existing psychic forces or energy most pokemon can channel for flight is bolstered in the pokemon receiving the ability, making them able to consistently fly and maintain altitude to avoid ground type attacks. meanwhile those same capabilities are temporarily locked in the ones losing it, leaving them on the ground. as for aegislash, or any mon who changes form in battle due to an ability, i would hazard it just gets locked into whatever form it's in at the time of swap.
