PMD's story dungeons are held together like duct tape due to how broken the player's arsenal is. Sky sort of realizes this but counterbalances in stupid ways like making Sleep status completely worthless due to a good chunk of the postgame cast being immune and having close-range flinch and counter passives, which instead force the already broken ranged meta to be abused even more.
Level 1 dungeons meanwhile are actually balanced around dungeon crawler progression, although even those have their fair share of bullshit design choices like late floor Politoed Perish Song
