I'll be honest, I think a lot of Gen 1 designs are fucking boring. It was a mix of regular animals with cartoony features and dinosaurs. At least as time has gone on, they've gotten clever with themes and designs with more focused concepts.

What caused them to start dumbing down the games? After BW2, one of the best sets of games in the series, X and Y came out, and it wasn't nearly as good. Did something happen between the two? Or, was shifting to a new console hard for them(which I can understand), and the change occured between Gen 6 and 7?
I just want a solid reason as to why they've started producing mediocre, low effort titles.
