>>50717774>>50718329I'm in burgerland and it's more about money issues than it is "you're too old to be diagnosed lol :^) " which is a retarded idea anyways considering there's a lot of people who get diagnosed as adults because it's not like you can just "grow out" of being autistic or being diagnosed wasn't a "thing" when you were a kid if you're old enough. If it were possible to grow out of it, this website would be a whole lot different. Not sure if going to a different doctor that practices different methods would do anything, I don't know shit about how mental health programs outside of the US and barely know about them as it is. I was just told to get on insurance after speaking to a therapist a couple of times because getting evaluated would cost a lot of money (because of course it would). I'm assuming he noticed something if that was his suggestion to me instead of something like "well you seem fine to me, so you don't need my help". I'm a little concerned from that kind of response alone.
>>50732511I wish. Retarded teens who want to be special will jump at the opportunity to self-diagnose themselves with anything and ruin self-diagnosing as a whole because people who are sincerely worried about their mental health and try to do their own research on it are lumped together with attention-seeking kids who want to be validated, and if you tell these brats that they're wrong, they whip out the "it's ok to self-diagnose!" card and call you ableist. It's also iffy because you could self-diagnose with the wrong disorder, i.e. saying you're autistic when you just have ADHD, which is common because the two often overlap. Lest we forget that thing where kids on tiktok gave themselves mental disorders because they were LARPing too hard for views.
Always see a medical professional if you can help it. Otherwise, approach your symptoms with caution and do as much research as possible, and take your own conclusions with a grain of salt.
