I'm okay with the ideas of TMs being shit, and TRs being much better but one time use during the campaign. But honestly when I get to any postgame/battle facility, it just feels like another waste of time to make me do this shit. Ironically Emerald accidentally had the best implementation, since it was piss easy to dupe TMs but only once you got to the battle frontier lmao.

It wouldn't be hard for them to get a team to recreate the other regions in 2d, they would probably be better. Let's say the whole game is in Gen 3 GBA style. Why wouldn't they do this?
