Furthermore, USUM was alternate universe, the one way you could introduce new darwinian evolution, and they still did nothing with it. They also provide a nice middle ground between giving a pokemon ten extra in a stat and giving a pokemon a mega evolution catapults its battle capability. Pretty much all existing alolan forms have only seen modest success, with exceptions like marowak being because of what's commonly used at the time.
