Blue was my first game, and I admit, I still love the notsalgia of the old series, but I'm not going to claim that it was the best.
For the time it was released, it was a really phenomenal game. Not other games had really utilized the link cable, and the idea of trading monsters with friends was really interactive.

A lot was broken with the game, there were a shit ton of glitches, but nonetheless they are the games that many of us started out with. It's okay to have nostalgia and to love the memories of your countless hours on your GBC, but saying that the games are the best...it's not technically possible given how much video games as a whole have improved and how limited gaming was back then.
Granted, my favorite Pokemon will forever be Gengar and Mew, because I feel a special connection to them, seeing as how they've been my favorites since childhood. But most everyone's favorites will be from the generation they started out with.
