X/Y. It was the first 3D pokemon game and it had a lot of new enjoyable shit. I actually spent a lot of time in Amie and enjoying the big change of pace in the series. I hardly even noticed how shit the plot and characters were. /vp/ was in relative harmony for the first 5 months of release and Friend Safari, Trade Generals and the like were amazing. Lots of positive interaction, fresh meta with lots of cool shit and early experimental builds, fun shitposting. It was perfect.
Unfortunately it also meant most of what i wanted in the series had already been achieved by these games, so i'm pretty much burnt out at the comparatively minor upgrades we've seen since then (and in the case of online, downgrades). Unless we see another huge jump, i don't think i can enjoy Pokemon again. Especially because we're still getting what is virtually an upscaled 3DS game instead of the big game other Nintendo franchises have delivered. Maybe i'll return to the franchise in 2030. It seems feasible to think we'll get a big jump by then, right?
