Back when I had no idea what shinies were (I had no idea why the red Gyarados was red and didn't question it) I found a shiny Machop when going through Rock Tunnel in Fire Red.
I had one Pokeball and luckily caught it on the first try. Became my bro all throughout the game. It never got to be a Machamp though cause I didn't have anyone to trade with.
