As for OP, you're basically asking what region you'd like to see, as that is what dictates what kind of variants we get. There's probably going to be another Meowth no matter where it is, but I'd like to see more variants which "rescue" obscure mons people overlook or forget about. Aside from image related, Qwilfish could reobtain a revamped evolution as a variant, Lumineon as a regional could be made less boring and part Electric to further the "neon fish" theme, and some of the older starters I hope get "redone" without battle gimmicks, like what some expect for Typho/Samurott.
