I actually liked gen V's approach on the villains, and not just because of the whole brainwashing people into thinking owning their pokemon is wrong.
In the past games all it felt like taking on the antagonist was that it was just a side thing and wasn't important, gen 5 actually made their presence and build up just a bit more noticeable instead of just being a roadblock

Its pretty bullshit how they make it appear as if one kid can take down a whole organisation with just a few battles, at least BW made it seem believable that it was a huge climactic ending and that you weren't the only person in the whole region to do shit about it.
