>>35842190>You don't like the changes contests had in gen IV, that's fine. You seem to be dwelling on personal preference as if that's a factor in determining quality rather than what the game can provide the player in terms of play options.
Needless to say the brunt of the gameplay in both contests comes from the appeal round, despite adding dress up and dancing you gain the majority of your points from the condition of the pokemon which came from blocks/poffins and the appeal.
Using accessories and dancing properly didn't even amount to the quarter of the score.
Getting back on track, in the gen 4's appeal round there's far less options and sets you can have due to the removal of Jamming and status effects. To make a comparison imagine if hyper offence was the only style you could have in battles, no stall, no battling, no burns or paralysis just hyper offence.

>>35842206You couldn't use pokemon like Ditto because of the one move rule. With that said there are moves that you can use twice in a row like fury swipes but transform isn't one of them.
To sum up the gen 4 contests are considerably more limited than their previous counterpart and in an RPG freedom of team building should be prioritised.
Oh and I don't particularly like contests either I only did them to 100% RSE and to collect ribbons in both.
