HGSS would've been amazing if they improved on more of GSC's faults, such as the shitty level scaling the limited amount of 'mons in the first half of the game. It looks nice and it'll stroke your nostalgia boner, but HGSS are kind of overrated.
BW were good, but it left a lot to be desired. BW2 made a lot of improvements and looked and played better, not to mention the best soundtrack in any Pokémon game to date.
