Then have the Hoenn anime star these two traveling together and do lots of double battles and shit, Gold would have prior experience and be sort of mentor-ish to Brendan early on. At the end of the anime they would part ways
and maybe also there'd be a movie where Gold/Jimmy battles Champion Ash before the anime moves onto Sinnoh where May would travel with Dawn in their quest to become contest masters or whatever.
