I mean at least with Cyrus we got a little background info that he isolated himself and preferred the company of machines over people, but Ghetsis is one big blank.
We don't even know if he was N's real dad or not, but if he wasn't I kinda speculate that he killed N's real parents and knew that if he dumped N out in the woods and exposed him only to Pokemon N would be able to communicate with them, and be recognized as a hero by Resh/Zek. And the rest of the plot as follows.
