My fondest memories of any generation (or any video game really) are from Gen V, despite having played since RBY came out. Gen V hype season was great, and despite having some doubts first, White became my favorite Pokémon game ever. Afterwards the hype for BW2 was unimaginably fun and absolutely worth it when the game itself turned out to be brilliant as well.
I've already given up on Pokèmon games ever reaching that point (for me personally) again, but luckily that only makes me appreciate Gen V and the work that went into it all that much more. I'm glad we got those games before it all went downhill, and I'm glad I can go back and play them again whenever I want to and it's still just as much fun as it was the first time around.
