And it was because of a complete mistake. My friend's mom at the time was buying us copies of the game because we were so stoked about them. I wanted Blue version because at the time I hated that I had red hair and didn't want anything to do with the color, even the version of Pokemon. Well my friend's bitch of a sister had taken the Blue for herself and left us boys with the two Red versions. Pissed off, (but since it was a free game, not that much) I played and ran into a Growlithe. I remember buying a Fire Stone to see if it worked on my Charmeleon and freaked out that Growlithe could use it. When I evolved my Growlithe and found instead this gigantic badass lion dog, I swore it would be my favorite Pokemon of all time.
I still lead with an Arcanine even to this day.
