If you insist, BW touches on the subject, making an actual claim that beginners should focus on three pokemon, and training six at once is quite hard. Note the phrases "at once" and "training". Having six pokemon is not the same as training them competitively, so you can't even claim that everyone who wants a team of six "thinks highly" about themselves, as they can just have pokemon as pets (and probably most people here do view it like this, just picking their favorites, not building a competitive team), which is completely acceptable.
