>>36772182It's important to understand the business here. Nintendo saw how successful GO was and wanted a bigger piece of that market. By targeting the same market via a Switch release with connectivity to that base of players, they're hoping to do so. They want the Pokemon franchise to make as much money as possible, and they're grabbing low-hanging fruit that will serve as another revenue stream and maybe will serve to invigorate cross-sales of core RPG games to GO players.
Remember also that Nintendo didn't take as much of a slice of the GO pie as people thought. In fact it caused the bump in their stock following GO's release to get wiped out once people realized. I think they're trying to expand their share of that particular market here
They'd be lunatics to throw everything into one watered down series since their cash cow is still currently the core series.
