The whole “you have to hide all your negative opinions behind a mask of irony to save face” has just been a net negative on internet culture and mental health. Now, everyone speaks like a passive-aggressive wine aunt who wants to take the moral high ground in front of her book club friends, which makes them way more annoying to talk to than if they were just genuine in their hatred for you.
Like, do you guys realize this is not how this works in real life at all? If someone goes up to you in public and starts calling you a niggerfaggot, no one’s going to take their side. No one is gonna think YOU’RE the asshole when you deck them in the throat for it. Hell, some of them might even applaud you. Why don’t we treat people online the same way we’d treat them in real life?
