They could've even revealed that he was actually just a transformed Manaphy (one of those next-generation sneak peaks) or that he had a connection to Kyogre. It could've even been the set up for a two parter episode. Also they go to fucking Saffron City and don't bother to visit Sabrina and Haunter? Or fucking Primeape? Talk about missed opportunities there.
